Recently a client of mine who has an Audi A7 couldn’t get his HTC Thunderbolt’s address book/contacts to sync with the Audi MMI over Bluetooth.

The workaround, which I found here:

  1. Unpair/Delete the phone from the Audi MMI
  2. Remove the Audi pairing from the HTC Droid (unpair)
  3. Re-pair the Audi to the HTC Droid
  4. When the phone pops up with the “Audi MMI wants to access your contact lists, Allow or Deny?”
Hit DENY numerous times.  After the 5-6th DENY all your contacts will sync.

Makes no sense and is totally counter-intuitive, but it works!

3 Responses to Audi MMI won’t sync HTC Droid Bluetooth contacts – FIXED!

Mike, I have a HTC Evo 4g and a new Audi A6 Prestige. Used your solution and did get names and telephone numbers to come in, but no addresses. Also the Audi MMI does not distinguish first and last names, nor did it distinguish land line from cell number (it entered the name twice). The audiusa/bluetooth website does say that the EVO will not bring in addresses. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have an Audi Q5 and the MMI will grab the contacts from my Droid HTC EVO 4G, but thats when things go down hill in a hurry! Apparently, it only has a 2000 number capacity, and only grabs the 1st 2000 of ANYTHING… that includes office, home, fax and cell. So it gets halfway through my 1800 contacts then can’t access the others.
I have a $45k car and a $200 smart phone – a Ford Fiesta and a Blackberry with bluetooth works better!

I see this is a three year old thread however I just recently upgraded my phone to a Droid Turbo and I’m seeing the same thing on my Audi A7. I’ve tried denying the loading of contacts but that’s not worked. I’ve removed and readded several times in hopes one might take along with trying to update my contacts in the MMI menu. None of these are working. Currently I’m working on exporting the address book from my Blackberry to SIMM1 then trying to import from that SIMM back when the Droid’s connected.

    Very frustrating…
